I now have a new category on the website, "Movie Of The Month" where I will feature wisdom flashes and other short movies (generally less than 5 minutes in length). They are mostly viewable with dialup although some may be very slow to load but well worth the patience! I have been asked several times who (or what) has inspired and helped me the most with my spiritual and personal development. Well there have been many. Here is a summary but it is by no means comprehensive. Perhaps the biggest help to me (at least in the early days of awakening to my soul) was becoming reiki attuned. (For those who may not have heard of reiki it is a natural healing method. You can receive treatments from a practitioner which is at the very least a relaxing, peaceful experience. It also makes considerable improvements to minor health problems and is a beneficial addition to traditional medicine for more serious ones. But what it really excels at is healing hearts.) In 2004, I received attunements for levels 1 and 2. (This is not the same as receiving treatments; it allows me to give treatments to myself and others although I do not practice it commercially.) It enabled me to clear out my baggage much more rapidly than I would have otherwise and it helped to awaken my awareness of God. It was an immensely powerful healing experience for me and when giving myself healing treatments I experienced some very big insights and visions particularly in the first couple of months when I used to get into a very deep meditative state (this is harder now). The writings of Guy Finley have been very helpful to me (as well as inspirational) and were instrumental to gaining a greater understanding of myself. In particular his ebook "Who Put That Stone In My Shoe" really helped me to understand that the negative parts of ourselves are in actual fact false parts of our personality devised by our ego. After reading this ebook I was able to recognise that guilt (which I was raised on as a child) was not a natural part of me at all and I was able to (mostly) let go of it as well as other negativities. "Home With God In A Life That Never Ends" is an amazing book by Neale Donald Walsch. Although I have benefitted from all of his books that I have read (about half of them so far), this one really made me think and I had to keep stopping and writing notes. Although I had already experienced visions of my own death, my reading of this book expanded my thoughts about dying (and living) considerably. "The Science Of Getting Rich", which I studied quite intensively for over a year, helped me to get rid of a myriad of wrong thinking in regards to prosperity and most fundamentally to realise that life is not a competition. God/The Universe has enough for everyone if only we believe that to be true. Music has also been very inspirational for me, in particular the works of Aeoliah. His music strikes notes that make my soul sing. Although mainstream music shops do not generally sell his recordings (at least not here in Australia), they can be ordered from his own website or Amazon. And I will add one more category; who has encouraged me the most? The answer to that is primarily God Himself by way of sending me some amazing messages just when I need to hear (or see) them. These messages have mainly come to me by ways that defy human logic and have been totally awesome. And I continue to have immense gratitude to my best friend Gary (the memorial on the main page of the website), who believed in me when no one else did (even if he did get cranky with me sometimes because I lived such a restricted and limited lifestyle in the past). There have been many more books, recordings, people who have crossed my pathway, insights, synchronicity etc that have helped as well. We just have to keep an open mind and be prepared to constantly explore new ideas (by way of meditation, research and discussion), work at improving our best qualities and eliminating the bad ones and continue to learn and grow throughout our lives. And don't forget to have fun as well :-) Article - Love, Forgiveness And Gratitudeby Pat Campbell - 27th January 2007I get so frustrated with the futility of people’s lives. Most people are so concerned with trivialities and protocol that they completely fail to see the reasons why they are here on earth. I don’t mean that we should be irresponsible – there are some things that need to be done to earn a living or for the sake of safety or hygiene. And of course it’s always a good idea to pay your bills on time. But does it really matter if you didn’t watch a particular TV show tonight or if you ate tea an hour later than usual? Some people’s lives are so regimented that they are not consciously aware of what they are doing most of the time; most of their everyday functions are performed on autopilot. And does it really matter if you don’t have the latest DVD, the fanciest mobile phone or more clothes than you can possibly fit into your wardrobe? I think many people need to get their priorities right! There are only three things in life that really matter - love, forgiveness and gratitude. Get these right and nothing else really matters; everything else will fall into place without a struggle. Of course you will still have challenges in your life but they will no longer seem insurmountable. Solutions will present themselves much more readily! It isn't a coincidence that nearly all the songs we hear on the radio are about love because love really is what "makes the world go round". Without love we are nothing. I am not referring specifically to romantic love, we can love in many different ways. But the love of God goes beyond any mortal feelings. I would never have believed that a few short years ago. Regardless of what some religions may preach about God being jealous or demanding, that isn't true. God is pure love, nothing else. He loves us all without reservation, without judgement, no matter what we do in our lives or even if we believe in His existence. Hate is self destructive; it never hurts the person it is aimed at, only ourselves. Love is a much better solution. We tend to think that when we have problems that someone else is to blame. But that is not the case at all. It is our own perception of the situation. We blame others so that we can avoid looking at the real issue behind the problem. Problems occur for one reason only and that is so we may learn a lesson. And that lesson is often about forgiveness. Do you want a better life than what you have right now? I think most of us do. An important factor in improving your life is gratitude. When we take a little time each day to give thanks for what we have, we will open a channel to receive more of the good things. This is just the way the universe works. Thank God for the gifts you receive every day, thank your partner for being with you (and maybe putting up with your bad habits), thank your friends for being there for you when you need them, thank your children for choosing you to be their parent (and yes, we do choose our own parents before we incarnate into a human body). There are many things to give thanks for every day. So life isn’t about blame, it’s about learning forgiveness. It isn’t about hate, it’s a lesson in love. And it isn’t about resentment, it’s a lesson in gratitude. As we learn these lessons and incorporate them into our daily living, the quality of our lives is vastly improved. You will feel different because your life will be more peaceful and harmonious than it ever has been before. And you will attract a great deal more of what is good into your life.
